Package 3D/2N Danum Valley: Borneo Rainforest
Lodge.
The Danum Valley Conservation area is an untouched primary forest. For
those who have seen the wildlife near the Kinabatangan river in Sukau,
is this the next step to jungle exploration. Less wildlife but abundance
of trees. First time in life that you experience the total jungle
feeling. Animals can stay away from the tourist because their habitat is
big enough to hide in. But getting this feeling after seeing all these
palm oil plantations is a must experience. You did not enter the jungle
if you did not visit the Danum Valley.
Suggested flight to Danum Valley is the MH3010 which depart in Kota
Kinabalu at 0700hrs. You will be picked up from the Lahad Datu airport
and brought to the office for registration and a short briefing.
Day 1: Lahad Datu > Danum Valley (L,D)
Depart at 0930 from the Lahad Datu office for a 2½ hours overland
journey on a logging gravel road to Borneo Rainforest Lodge. On arrival
our exotic "Welcome Drink" will be served while the Front Office
Personnel will brief you on the facilities available at the Lodge. After
lunch, introduction to the forest through "Nature Trail" and proceed to
the "Canopy Walkway". After dinner a briefing and slide presentation at
the Conference Room. Afterwards a "Night-Drive" in an open-air jeep in
search of nocturnal animals.
Overnight at Danum Valley Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 2: Danum Valley (B,L,D)
After breakfast guiding jungle activities, trek to the Kadazan Dusun
burial site "Coffin Cliff" then proceed with trekking to the "View
Point" for a bird's eye view of the area. Descend to the "Jacuzzi Pool"
for a refreshing dip. After lunch optional water tubing for an hour in
the Danum River or a trekking along the Segama River. After dinner a
Night Walk in search of nocturnal animals.
Overnight at Danum Valley Borneo Rainforest Lodge.
Day 3: Danum Valley > Lahad Datu (B,L)
After breakfast guided morning walk at the Segama Trail / Hornbill
Trail. After lunch you depart the lodge for a 2½ hours journey back to
Lahad Datu Town or Airport.
