Niah National Park + Lambir falls / full board:

Duration: 2 Days / 1 Night

Day 1
Morning, depart Miri for 2 hours drive passing through oil palm plantations, secondary forest, picturesque countryside and Batu Niah – a small inland town. Proceed to the park headquarters by road and check in at the Park's guesthouse, then by boat to cross the Niah River followed by 45 minutes walk on a raised plank walk ( 4 km long ) which snakes through a lush forest to reach the Niah Cave entrance. Explore this famous cave system, archaeological sites and primitive hematite paintings on the walls. Observe the bewildering and dangerous maneuver of bird nest collectors climbing flimsy scaffolding and wooden poles to reach the dark crevasses of the caves to collect the nest. In the evening, wait at the Niah Cave entrance to watch the bats flying out of the cave entrance on their feeding forays, return to Park Headquarters for dinner and overnight stay at the guesthouse. Day 2
After breakfast, return journey by coach with a visit to the Lambir Hills waterfalls, which is surrounded by delightful tropical rain forest, lunch, and return to Miri in the afternoon. (B, L)
